Using these five words or phrases could SABOTAGE your 2017 New Year's Resolutions:

“How few there are who have courage enough to own their faults, or resolution enough to mend them.”  Benjamin Franklin

Here are Five Don’ts and Five Do’s and One Bonus (Eleven)
to help you Succeed with Your 2013 New Year’s Resolution

1 – Lose – Do you really want to LOSE weight? Do you remember the last time you LOST your car keys, a shoe, your glasses? Did you look for them and hope you FOUND them? Or how about when a person loses a job? Loses money? Or their favorite sports team loses? Does it really make sense that you would want to LOSE weight? No – that word just sabotages your efforts. That’s why people who LOSE weight, generally finds it again.  Instead of "losing weight" - you want to "reduce your weight - be a healthy weight!

2 – Quit – Another negative word. Think back to when you were younger, maybe even just last week. Do you remember someone saying (maybe a coach, parent, teacher, or a friend) to you “You’re not a Quitter, are you?” in that tone of voice that indicated disapproval. Have you ever wondered why the cigarette companies use the word QUIT in their “public service” ads? Because they know that people who QUIT are likely to start back again.  You don't really want to "quit smoking", you want to STOP smoking!

The Seven Lies about Smoking! Using Hypnosis / NLP makes it Easier to STOP!

Giving up smoking is
the easiest thing
in the world.
I know because
I've done it
thousands of times.
Mark Twain

There's a BIG
difference between
"QUITTING"
and
"STOPPING"

1 – You should Quit smoking.  Really?  Who wants to be a “Quitter”?  The cigarette companies know that people don’t like to be “Quitters” that’s why in their public service announcements / commercials they use the word “Quit” instead of “Stop”.  Instead of Quitting, how about “STOPPING” with intention – just like when You STOP Your car?

2 – You’re going to gain weight when You STOP Smoking?  Well, that’s true –IF YOU REPLACE SMOKING WITH EATING, especially if You replace it with SWEETS!  So to counteract that, I give my Clients the suggestion of being healthy – which includes healthier eating.  And healthier eating would NOT lead to weight gain.

Spring Cleaning - Bad Habits

"How many people are trapped
in their everyday habits:
part numb,
part frightened,
part indifferent?
To have a better life
we must keep choosing
how we’re living."
- Albert Einstein

Somewhere I read that if it wasn’t for the weather changing, 90% of people wouldn’t have any way of starting a conversation. And how do weather conversations tend to flow? Towards the negative – complaining about the weather. It’s too hot, cold, rainy, windy, etc.

Why do most people complain about the weather? Because they realize they probably can’t do anything about it. And it’s easier to complain about something you can’t change than to actually do something about things you can change.

April brings more signs of Spring! Renewal, April showers, Spring cleaning, planting gardens and flowers.

Habits are like seeds you plant. If you plant weeds – such as dandelions, you’re going to get weeds growing in your yard. But when you plant flower seeds or vegetables seeds (zinnias or green beans) – you get flowers or vegetables. Some habits are bad like smoking or bad eating habits. And then there are good habits like brushing your teeth or healthy eating.

"Habit is habit, and not to be flung out of the window by any man,
but coaxed downstairs one step at a time." -- Mark Twain

Since we’re talking about Spring time – let’s discuss some Spring cleaning – some techniques to get rid of some bad habits.

Are you ready to commit (not just think about), but actually commit to changing that bad habit? If so, keep reading. If not, then go back to complaining about the weather that you can’t change, and stop complaining about the habits you can change.
